Interested in starting an ISACA Student Group (ISG) at your college or university? Review the requirements below before applying for official recognition from ISACA.
1 Identify a Faculty Advisor
Identify a member of your college or university faculty to serve as the Faculty Advisor for your ISACA Student Group. The Faculty Advisor will serve as a primary point of contact and provide guidance on the group’s activities, operations, and leadership succession. Faculty Advisors must have an ISACA account, as their ISACA ID is required on the online ISG application. Active ISACA membership is encouraged but not required to help Faculty Advisors identify opportunities for collaboration and support.
Create an ISACA Account by selecting the person icon in the upper-right corner of the ISACA website.
2 Establish Your Student Group
The Student Group must be recognized by its college or university as an official student organization, club, or equivalent. Recognition by both the academic institution and ISACA will be documented through the ISACA Student Group Recognition Acknowledgement Form as part of the application process.
If your university requires ISACA pre-approval before establishing a student organization, complete this form and send it to studentgroups@isaca.org.
3 Elect a Student Group President
Elect a Student Group President who will serve as the primary student contact for ISACA. The Student Group President must hold and maintain an active ISACA Student Membership. Their active ISACA ID is required on the online ISG application.
Your group may also establish additional leadership positions, such as Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary, based on your university’s requirements and the needs of your group. These additional positions are not required by ISACA Global to form an ISG.
4 Develop Student Group Bylaws
Download the ISG Bylaws Template and customize it to align with your college or university’s policies and requirements. You will be asked to upload a copy of the Student Group’s bylaws when completing the online ISG application.
5 Optional: Chapter Affiliation
Student Groups may connect or partner with an ISACA local chapter, but chapter affiliation is not required for ISACA Student Group recognition. If affiliated with an ISACA Chapter, you will be asked to provide the chapter leader’s ISACA ID on the online ISG application.
6 Submit Your Application
Once the requirements above are complete, submit the online ISACA Student Group Application for review.
